The
New York Times prepared an overview of Ben S. Bernanke, one of the most
influential people in recent American history. Bernanke won scholarly renown before
arriving in Washington and ultimately presiding over monetary policy in the
most tumultuous period since the Great Depression.
His tenure at the Fed included some of the biggest crises in U.S. history: the mortgage
crisis, the fall of Lehman Brothers, Wall Street bailouts, and cutting the
interest rate to almost zero.
