According
to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data from the March 2013 National
Compensation Survey (NCS), 74 percent of full-time workers have
access to retirement plans and 85 percent have access to health care plans.
While
the overwhelming majority of workers have access to a retirement plan, only 49
percent of private industry workers participated in a retirement plan.
The study also found that only
37 percent of part-time workers had access to a retirement plan.
The NCS report also showed that
70 percent of all private industry workers had access to a health care plan with
51 percent participating in one. Only 24 percent of part-time workers had
access to a health care plan.
The NCS also reported that there
is a disparity in businesses offering health care plans based on company size.
Among private industry employers, 58 percent of businesses with less than 100
employees offered a health care plan, while 88 percent of businesses with over
500 employees offer one.
